Samira Nuhanović

Chief Operating Officer, Softhouse

Samira Nuhanovic has joined the team at Softhouse Consulting in June 2019 as the Chief Operations Officer for its Sarajevo office. Prior to that, Samira has worked for over twelve years with international and local non-government organizations in various capacities including advising roles and project team lead positions mainly in the areas of entrepreneurship support and youth development.

Samira holds a PhD in cooperative economics from the University of Trento in Italy and European Research Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprises and an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Cambridge, UK. In terms of her academic research, she focuses mainly on topics in the fields of organizational change, social innovation and social and solidarity economy.

She authored and co-authored several scientific articles and book chapters of which the most notable is her contribution to the Oxford Handbook of Mutual, Co-operative and Co-owned Businesses. In the beginning of 2019, as a result of her professional fellowship with a Chicago based company, Samira launched an initiative in Bosnia that is focused on providing children and young adults with tools to discover their strengths and work towards turning them into their labor market super powers.

    Do we understand the power of our differences? How good are we in making sure that we have inherent and acquired diversity in our teams and companies? How does exposure to different contexts and mentalities help our problem-solving abilities? Our next Leaders Tribe will dive into these questions and take you on a journey of understanding how diversity drives innovation and success. We will discuss diversity in teams and why it matters to fully understand our business personalities. We will look into how diverse experiences shape us into open-minded and innovative individuals - something to inspire us to continuously improve and work on ourselves. And finally, we will take a macro look at how to use diversity to tackle some of the most interesting world's challenges.

    The future of work and learning is in skills and experience-based education which needs to be creative and collaborative in order to prepare youth for flexible and dynamic labor market. What kind of skills, knowledge and attitudes will today’s students need to thrive in the future labor market? And who is responsible for developing them?

    This workshop will be about recognizing several things:

    (1) education is different from schooling;
    (2) while formal schooling will stop at some point, education never should;
    (3) everyone has a unique set of skills and capabilities that can, if nurtured properly, be transformed into unique selling point in the jobs market.

    This interactive session will give you the idea of what it means to have or not to have a clear career path – and how to work from knowing where you are to getting where you want to be making the best out of journey in between with some practical exercises to help you understand potential bumps in the road.
