Subodha has been involved in IEEE for more than 7 years starting as a student member. He played a major role in uplifting IEEE activities in Sri Lanka and he was recognized as the best student volunteer in Asia Pacific region in 2015. In addition to being a part of the IEEE Entrepreneurship steering committee, he is currently the liaison for SL2 College for IEEE SLInspire project.

Subodha graduated from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka where he received his B.Sc specializing in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. During his time in college, Subodha launched a startup focusing on the energy sector of Sri Lanka and is now serving as a member of the board. After 6 years of operation, his company – Alta Vision (Pvt) Ltd is contributing more than 5MW of power to the national grid through Solar PV systems. After his first venture got stable, he moved to Florida to read for his Ph.D in 2016 specializing in Embedded Systems. His research work and publications in premier international conferences as well as time spent as an Intern at Intel Corporation has given him substantial experience in the area. He continues to be involved in the entrepreneurial space experimenting on several other ideas as well. Alta Vision (Pvt) Ltd has currently invested in other ventures such a hospital in Sri Lanka and a travel agency.

Subodha Charles is Vice Chair, Education & Awards of the 2019 IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee.

    Participants of the IEEE Innovation Nation program will be pitching on Saturday evening. Before they pitch, they will have the opportunity to talk about their business ideas with experts and professionals during the World Cafe session. Experts that will take part in the activity: Adnan Mandzo , Amer Grgic , Amir Sabirovic , Subodha Charles , Vladimir Sukara , Zoran Puljic , Eddie Custovic and Milan Kusmuk.

    Mr. Amer Grgic will give final tips and suggestions before the teams pitch their ideas. This will be the last opportunity to get an expert’s opinion on the pitch for the teams.

  • 18:00  - 20:00
    Teams that have spent the last 3 months diligently developing and refining their business ideas will have a chance to pitch in front of all of the Congress participants and an expert jury that will help the IEEE Innovation Nation organizers to decide which ideas are ready for an initial investment. The Innovation Nation program itself has 5.000 USD on their disposal, with other potential investors present at the Congress as well. Jury will consist of: Adnan Berberovic, Adnan Mandzo, Amer Grgic, Amir Sabirovic, Subodha Charles, Vladimir Sukara, Zoran Puljic and Eddie Custovic.
